Back in July, I shared with all of you that my vision for this year is to inspire more leaders, mentors, and coaches to step up to serve our members. Time flies. The first quarter of this year has pasted. The second quarter is under way. Do you feel more inspired than three months ago? If your answer is no, then the question is what you are going to do about it? How can the Founder’s District help you to be inspired?
October 1 is the time to renew your membership for the next 6 months. It’s not doing anyone any good to just renew your membership and do nothing. At the Toastmasters International Convention last month in Las Vegas, I had a chance to ask attendees a question, “Why are you attending the Convention?” One of the popular answers was to “get inspired”.
Many members told me that they were inspired by just attending the Convention, seeing the opening ceremony and members from around the world. Speaking of the Convention, do you know our District Convention is scheduled to November 7? It is a good opportunity for you to get inspired and network with members within Founder’s District. There are approximately 4,500 members in our district. Don’t miss the opportunity.

The second popular answer was to get inspired by keynote speakers. Speaking of keynote speakers, the keynote speaker at the Founder’s District Conference will be Toastmasters International President Elect, Mike Storkey. Additinoally, the C&L (Communication and Leadership) Award recipient will be Fritz Coleman. To learn more about Mike Storkey and Fritz Coleman, go to www.foundersdistrict.org/conference.
The third popular answer was to get inspired by the International speech contest. Here is what Glenn Yasukochi had to say about speech contest.
“Hi Pan,
I went to the international speech contest because I had my mind set on competing in Las Vegas. I fell short at the Division level but decided to go anyway because attending a convention was on my bucket list. Although I know the size of our organization by the numbers, attending the opening ceremony helped me appreciate the enormous size and diversity of our organization watching the flags of 136 countries. I attended many great presentations and learned a lot about how the contests works beyond the District level.
Attending the conference should be on every member’s bucket list

Division H New Member Chair”
Speaking of speech contest, the Founder’s District Conference will have two contests: Tall Tale and Evaluation Speech Contests. Tall Tale Speech Contest is always my favorite contest because not only it’s funny but I am always inspired by contestants, as well as learn some speaking tips from the contests. Registration for Fall District Conference is open now. Take advantage of early bird discount which will end on October 14.
